Before the purchase and installation of an airbag sensor, make sure it is the correct fit for your vehicle.
- Due to the critical nature of the design of air bag systems, GM does not support the use of any used, salvaged, or imitation parts for repair. Only new, genuine GM warranted parts should be used in repair.
- Have a trained professional perform airbag service.
- Have the airbag sensor inspected by a certified technician after all collisions.
- Regularly inspect airbag sensors for signs of damage or wear, and replace them if signs of damage are found.
- Refer to your Vehicle Owner’s manual for additional vehicle maintenance practices.
Signs of wear or damage for airbag sensors include but are not limited to:
- Illuminated airbag malfunction lamp
- Sensor damaged in the event of a collision
