Does an illuminated airbag light indicate it needs to be serviced?

Yes. The airbag light indicates that the restraint control module, which includes the sensors, has identified a fault in the system and has deactivated the airbag and pretensioners.

About this product

GM Genuine Parts Airbag Passenger Presence Modules are designed, engineered, and tested to rigorous standards, and are backed by General Motors. These modules detect if an occupant is in the passenger seat of your vehicle which then signals if the passenger seat airbag needs to engage. GM Genuine Parts are the true OE parts installed during the production of or validated by General Motors for GM vehicles. Some GM Genuine Parts may have formerly appeared as ACDelco GM Original Equipment (OE).
