These slave cylinders work in conjunction with the clutch master cylinder. When the vehicle's clutch pedal is depressed, a rod connected to the clutch master cylinder forces hydraulic fluid through a line into the clutch slave cylinder. This hydraulic pressure activates a rod within the clutch slave cylinder against the clutch fork to optimize shifting of gears.
