Before purchasing and installing a mechanical fuel pump, make sure it is the correct fit for your vehicle.
- Fuel contamination is one of the top reasons for fuel pump failure. For proper operation and longevity, it is critical to have a clean fuel system.
- Before servicing a fuel pump always replace the strainer and inspect the inline fuel filter for contamination (if equipped).
- When replacing a fuel pump, check for proper electrical connections, pressure, volume, and current.
- Regularly inspect mechanical fuel pump for signs of damage or wear and replace them if signs of damage are found.
Signs of wear for mechanical fuel pumps include but are not limited to:
- Excessive or abnormal engine noise
- Service engine soon light is illuminated
- Improper engine idling, hesitation, or stalling

- Noticeable fuel odors
