Before purchasing and installing an EGR valve make sure it is the correct fit for your vehicle
- Use recommended octane fuel to prevent carbon build up
- Replace EGR gasket at sign of leak
- Use approved fuel additives
- Regularly inspect exhaust EGR valves for signs of damage or wear, and replace them if signs of damage are found
Signs of wear for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves include but are not limited to:
- Hard engine starting
- Engine misfire
- Engine stall
- Poor fuel economy
